Lyrical Inspiration

Inspiration comes in all forms. Some are inspired by movies, and some by books. There are people who get their inspiration from people, and others from self reflection.

When it comes to many aspects of my life, my husband is my inspiration. He is supportive, encouraging and always pushes me to follow my dreams. He helps when he can and is just all-around amazing. I couldn’t ask for a better husband and he inspires me to never give up.

When it comes to my writing, I get mine from music…lyrics, to be exact.

With finishing my first novel, Not So Bad, and publishing it on Amazon Kindle, I have since started working on my next book. A certain song by one of my favorite bands, Blaqk Audio, and another by my other favorite band, AFI, inspired this idea for an entire book. Davey Havok is a lyrical genius, so it is hard for me not to have inspiration from them.

The lyrics from the songs brought about an idea for the main plot of the story, and especially a few select scenes that are important to the book. From there, it stemmed out into sub-plots, twists and surprises. I’ve got a good portion outlined, and even several chapters written. I am excited about the outcome of this one, and so far am very happy with what I have.  Without giving much away, I will say that there is romance, drama and one of the main characters having to face starting over from everything that he’s ever known.

As I write more, I will possibly post little teasers in my posts. My goal is end of 2015 for publication. Listening to my inspiration tends to help the words flow, so this deadline should be doable.

What is your inspiration? Or who?  In what ways do they inspire you?
